ENERCY is proud to announce the publication of the ‘Learnbook on Implementation of Hydrogen Supply Corridors’ by the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance (ECH2A). This comprehensive guide outlines the roadmap for establishing six hydrogen supply corridors across Europe by 2030, integral to the EU’s energy transition and aligned with the revised TEN-E Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2022/869).
As an active member of the Clean Hydrogen Alliance and a contributor to the Transmission and Distribution Roundtable, ENERCY played an active role in the creation of this Learnbook. The document provides in-depth analysis on the technical characteristics, interconnections, and potential contributions of each corridor to the development of the EU hydrogen economy.
Connecting the EU through Six Strategic Hydrogen Supply Corridors
The Learnbook outlines the development of six strategic hydrogen supply corridors, aiming to establish a robust hydrogen network across Europe by 2030.
The Learnbook focuses on:
Corridor Creation by 2030: It outlines how the six hydrogen corridors will be developed, leveraging ongoing projects with both national and broader scopes to establish specific flow routes.
Routing Details: The Leanrbook specifies how corridors will connect import points, terminals, storage sites, and production hubs to industrial demand areas and distribution clusters, including industrial clusters, ports, and hydrogen Valleys.
System Interconnections:It highlights the role of these corridors in linking national hydrogen systems, fostering market development and ensuring supply security.
Technical and Financial Insights: The Learnbook provides technical data, cost estimates for development and implementation, and potential financial tools for corridor projects, focusing only on the segments contributing to corridor creation.
Barrier Identification: It identifies key obstacles for related projects to achieve Final Investment Decision (FID) status promptly.
Collaborative Efforts to Overcome Challenges
The Learnbook identifies barriers to hydrogen corridor development, emphasising the need for:
A supportive regulatory framework.
Enhanced value chain collaboration.
Clear financing mechanisms for infrastructure projects.
Building on the first assessment from April 2023, this new edition offers detailed updates on corridor planning and implementation, reinforcing the importance of coordinated efforts across all sectors.
