Energy Transition Team:
Dr Enrique Troncoso
Dr Enrique Troncoso is Managing Director and Head of the Energy Transition Team at Enercy. A senior engineering consultant, he is currently focused on the deployment of renewable local energy systems across Europe, the implementation of hydrogen and biogas as clean flexible energy vectors.
Enrique is an expert in low carbon energy systems and the integration of renewables, energy storage and clean energy vectors like hydrogen and biogas. His background includes project development, design and planning, technical project management, technical consultancy and delivery of complex integrated deployment projects. Enrique has developed and currently coordinates some of the EU’s largest demonstration programs on hydrogen, mobility and integrated energy systems (e.g. HEAVENN / H2 Valleys, BIG HIT). He also works as a technical advisor to the European Commission on technology innovation and low carbon energy & transport programs.
Enrique holds a BEng in Industrial Engineering from the University of Seville, Spain; an MSc degree in Chemical & Environmental Engineering and a PhD in Hydrogen Technologies from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK. He speaks English and Spanish fluently and has some knowledge of German and Italian.
Circular Economy Team:
Katharina Bouchaar is Managing Director and Head of the Circular Economy Team at Enercy. The focus of her work is to ensure that the principles of Zero Waste and the Circular Economy are integrated into projects and organisational policies.
Katharina is an expert in international project management and policy advice for the Circular Economy & Climate Change as well as in stakeholder management. She also has extensive knowledge of the EU regulatory and subsidy frameworks for sustainable technologies, services and infrastructure thanks to her previous career at the European Commission, where she was responsible for international cooperation projects across the EU and in third countries for over 8 years. Katharina is also a Member of the Board of the Edinburgh Remakery, an award-winning Circular Economy social enterprise.
Katharina holds an MSc in Environmental Management from Université Libre of Brussels, Belgium, a second Masters’ degree in European Affairs from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany and a BA (Honours) in Development Studies & Politics from SOAS, University of London, UK. She speaks English, French, Spanish and German fluently.
