Hydrogen Project Engineer

(full-time, 35 hrs a week. Contract for 2 years, possibility for extension)

About us

We are a dynamic international SME based in the Northern Netherlands, and working in the green hydrogen sector across Europe. We are looking for a sympathetic and motivated person who can think on their feet and get things done independently, since this person will be our main representative in the Netherlands. The position we are looking to fill involves technical expertise in the renewables and hydrogen sector but will also require some knowledge in business modelling and techno-economic assessments.

About you

To deliver this vision we are looking for a Hydrogen Project Engineer to support our increasing portfolio of hydrogen projects. You will support the technical delivery of our EU-funded hydrogen projects ensuring a high standard, on time and to budget, as well as supporting Enercy’s growth in hydrogen activities, including project development activities.


You will have a broad educational background, ideally with an engineering degree or equivalent in a technical or scientific subject. A recognised project management qualification would also be valued, and prior experience in the hydrogen sector would be considered a valuable asset. Ideally, you will have worked previously in other publicly funded national or EU-funded projects.


Key responsibilities and duties

You will be responsible for assisting the company’s Technical Director. You will support EU project delivery and scheduling, preparation and submission of project deliverables and technical reports, as well as preparation of tenders and proposals for funding as required. In order to be successful, you should feel comfortable taking on several tasks that require various skills, and work independently to appropriately prioritize those tasks' completion. These include:


· Support to ongoing hydrogen projects including developing, writing and submitting project technical reports and deliverables

· Technical support to preliminary engineering designs and conceptual site lay outs as required (as part of feasibility studies and techno-economic reports)

· Support the development of business models for a variety of hydrogen end-user applications (e.g. mobility, heat and power supply, industry)

· Assist with EU project management activities to ensure success and ensure the tasks assigned to Enercy are moving forward to meet anticipated deadlines

· Support to project development activities including representing and speaking on behalf of the company when required, engaging with existing and potential partners, clients and key stakeholders


Summary of the job requirements

Educational background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent

  • Masters in Business, Economics or equivalent is desirable

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint


Skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently with or without supervision

  • 2-4 years demonstrable professional experience in the renewable and/or hydrogen sectors (knowledge on automotive and aeronautical systems and/or electrical engineering are all of interest).

  • Good understanding of commercial, technical and financial issues pertaining to renewable energy and/or green hydrogen

  • Good communication and presentation skills, able to engage with a variety of public and private stakeholders (good customer-facing capabilities)

  • Fluent in English


Desirable:

  • Demonstrable EU-project experience

  • Experience with project management systems such as PMP, Microsoft Project or similar

  • Experience in Visio, NCH or similar flowchart & diagram software

  • Fluency in Dutch and/or Spanish


Our offer

As you can see this is a job with a wide variety of responsibilities that offers you the opportunity to work flexibly like an entrepreneur but within the safety of a salaried job. We will make sure to support you, in real life and remotely, as our team is based in various locations across the Netherlands and Europe. Depending on your experience your salary will be between €30.000 - €35.000 gross a year, plus holiday pay of 8%, on a 35-hour per week basis. Remote and flexible working arrangements are possible .
